How do I know if a dog or cat is still available for adoption?
If the dog or cat is listed on our website, we are still accepting applications for the pet. Be sure to submit your adoption application ASAP and one of our adoption counselors will contact you within a few days.
What is your adoption process?
First, you will need to complete the adoption application for the pet you are interested in or fill out a generic application if you don’t see a pet that is of interest to you. Our adoption counselors are excellent matchmakers and will be in touch within a few days to discuss your application. If determined that you are the best fit for the pet, a meet and greet is then scheduled for you to hopefully take home your new furry friend.
What are your adoption fees?
All of our available pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for feline leukemia/FIV (cats), tested for heartworm (dogs over 6 months) and given monthly flea/heartworm prevention while in our care. With that said, our adoption fees can vary as outlined below:
Dog/Puppy: $200 – $600
Cat/Kitten: $50 – $300
Do I have to pay anything out of pocket when I am fostering with your organization?
Nope! Mountain Pet Rescue Asheville will provide you with all the food, medical, pet supplies and anything else you may need to make it a successful experience for you and the animal(s).
How can I help volunteer with your organization?
We LOVE our volunteers! Get started by filling out the volunteer application and our Volunteer Coordinator will get in touch to discuss your areas of interest. Because of our insurance policy, we can only have volunteers that are 18 years or older.
Can you help me re-home my pet?
As a foster-based rescue, we are limited as to which pets we can take into our organization. Please contact us and we will send you a questionnaire to complete about the pet you would like to re-home. We can then determine if we are able to help!
I just found this pet. Can you help me find its owner?
Legally, all found or stray animals need to be reported to the county animal shelter in which they were found or seen. Mountain Pet Rescue Asheville cannot take in these animals and will only consider intake for those that have cleared the stray hold period without being claimed.
What is your phone number?
We do not have a phone number, but are happy to get back to you via email. Please contact us.
Where are you located?
Since we are a foster-based rescue and do not have a physical shelter, all of our adoptions are by appointment only unless you catch us around town at an adoption event. Check out what’s happening here.
I have an opened bag of pet food. Would your rescue be able to use it?
Absolutely! You can drop your food donation off at the MPR AVL Headquarters in Candler. The address is 7 Old Pisgah Highway, Suite 200.
How are you affiliated with the Thrift Hound?
The Thrift Hound is our storefront fundraising effort and all proceeds come directly back to the animals in our care. Check out the store hours, items you can donate and merchandise that might be for sale here.
